Leo "LeMarcus" Newman is a distinguished individual whose remarkable journey has been characterized by excellence in various fields and an unwavering commitment to community service. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he is a proud product of Worthing High School, where he first began to showcase his exceptional athletic talents.


 As a former professional football player, LeMarcus Newman has not only excelled on the gridiron but has also made significant contributions off the field. He has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, reflecting his dedication to making a positive impact in society. Among his notable achievements are:

LeMarcus Newman's professional journey has been equally impressive. Currently serving as the Program Manager for Change Happens My Brother's Keeper, an initiative supported by former President Barack Obama and the Obama Foundation, he is deeply involved in initiatives that aim to uplift communities and empower young individuals.


Previously, he served as the Designated Signature Officer and International Advisor for Texas Southern University, where his outstanding work was evident in the display of nine national flags on the university's campus, symbolizing diversity and international collaboration. His efforts resulted in a significant increase in the international student population, generating over $41,000,000 in revenue. The country of Qatar donated an addition 32 Million to the City of Houston, This accomplishment was recognized by the City of Houston, where LeMarcus received the City of Houston Diversity Award.


LeMarcus Newman's commitment to public service extends beyond the educational sphere. His tenure with the Department of Defense, where he held the position of International Human Resource Supervisor with a GS13 ranking, allowed him to manage staff and provide crucial support for U.S. Embassy and military base operations in the Middle East. His dedication was rewarded with Defense Medals from various divisions, reflecting his invaluable contributions to national security.


LeMarcus Newman is not only a decorated professional but also a dedicated scholar. He began his journey in athletics and academics at Lackawanna Junior College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He holds an Associate's degree in Computer Science from Houston Community College, a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and recently graduated with an Executive Master's degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern University. He also holds Six Sigma Black and Green Belt certifications from the University of Indiana.


A proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and an active participant in various organizations, including the Democratic National Committee, 100 Black Men - Houston, NFL Player Engagement, NFL Alumni, National Football League Player Association, Texas High School Coaches Association, and FMA Military Lodge 210, LeMarcus Newman is deeply involved in efforts to uplift and empower communities.


The Newman family is also committed to philanthropic activities. LeMarcus serves as a board member for the Pink and Green Foundation and has been a guest speaker for the Teen Summit hosted by Brazosport Area Delta Sigma Theta Inc. His humanitarian efforts include involvement in relief efforts during and after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Katrina, as well as volunteering at organizations such as the Salvation Army and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Houston. He has also been actively engaged in community campaigns, such as the "Klean It Up, Green It Up" initiative for Council Member Larry Green and various NFL youth organizations.

LeMarcus Newman's global perspective extends to his visits to elementary schools in Africa, with a memorable visit to the Nima School in Ghana.


As a devoted family man, LeMarcus is the son of Leo and Dorothy Newman. He is married to Amber Newman, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club, and together they have three children: Amai, Lathan, and Zachry Newman.


LeMarcus Newman's journey has been guided and inspired by remarkable mentors, including former Washington Redskins Hall of Famer Darrell Green and the late NFL Executive Director Eugene Upshaw. His motto is "to level the playing field for all youth while helping individuals to be able to help someone else," a principle that continues to drive his life's work and contributions to society.
